Măgura Uroiului

[Uroi Hill]. It is located on the administrative territory of the town of Simeria and commune Rapoltu mare, being considered a protected natural area of national interest and it corresponds to the category – geological-type natural reserve. This isolated hill was formed as a result of the volcanic activities that were intense in this region millions of years ago. On the 10 hectares of the reserve there are hundreds of species of plants from yellow locust trees to wild roses. The archeologists found here traces of human habitation from the Neolithic. Since the Roman times, there were here stone quarries that shaped the hill.
