The Dacian quarry on Măgura Călanului

[Călan Hill]. The quarry on Măgura Călanului represented the main source of limestone used by the Dacians, in spite of the long distance between the quarry and the Dacian fortresses; from Măgura Călanului to Costeşti it is 20 km, and to Sarmizegetusa Regia, it is almost 40. The quarry is L-shaped, with the sides of 600/400 m. On Măgura were discovered ceramic fragments belonging to the Coțofeni culture.
